CAVALRY SABER. Fine “as found” Hammond Marshall made saber at his Atlanta Sword Factory. 33.25" very slightly curved unstopped fuller blade. Distinctive short heavy pommel and brass ferrule at base of grip, light cavalry 1860 style branched hilt. Unique Marshall scabbard is made from 2 wood slabs carved to perfectly fit each blade (swords & scabbards don’t interchange) & pinned with japanned sheet iron mounts & brass rings. The grip is about as fine as found with much of its original polish. Survival on these sabers in unmolested condition is rare. CONDITION: very good to fine overall, blade is gray overall, light scattered staining. Grip retains all its leather, scuffing, thin iron wire is tight and complete. Scabbard is sound with repaired crack above drag. Brass throat is missing as on so many survivors. (02-19156/JS). $4,500-5,500.
