Cal. 45-70. S# 02576PT197. Bbl. 26". Model 1886 lever action rifle mfg. in Japan and imported/retailed by Browning Arms Company. Left quarter flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked with Browning's importer information above "MADE IN JAPAN", followed by ".45-70 GOVT" towards the breech, with the model and cal. designations marked on the right quarter flat. Upper receiver tang is marked "BROWNING MODEL 1886". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Plain wood straight grip buttstock, with crescent blued steel buttplate and plain wood forend. Dovetailed brass beaded blade front sight, with dovetailed U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory blue finish overall. Bbl. exhibits a few very small spots of light pitting on the left edge near the front sight. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting what appears to be a couple of small spots of light surface oxidation, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows a few minor superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise is excellent overall. PROVENANCE: Norman Olliff Estate. (25-2503/MLW). MODERN. $1,000-1,500.
