REVOLVER RETAILED BY WESTLEY RICHARDS. Cal. 455 Eley (?). S# 10 (on face of frame). The Webley Pryce was the first successful design for a top break, double action, self extracting revolver by Webley. It was also produced by other makers undoubted using unnumbered revolvers sourced "in the white" from Webley. This revolver is devoid of any maker markings except for the name "Westley Richards & Co. London" engraved on top rib of 4 1/2" barrel. The # 10 is stamped in the breech face. Revolver opens by depressing two levers on sides of double action frame. Revolver is of early design with small hinge. Nickel plated frame, barrel and cylinder are engraved with about 30% coverage well cut scroll. Birmingham proofs are on cylinder and frame. Grip is of checkered walnut and has cap with lanyard ring installed. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: revolver is housed in what appears to be its original figured walnut case, lined in blue cloth which contains a small pewter oil bottle. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Retaining over 95% original nickel plate with some scratches and minor lifting on cylinder. Bore is shiny and sharp but shows some minor pitting. Mechanically fine. Grips are very fine with some minor marks. Case shows some considerable cracking of top and is missing central medallion, interior cloth shows rubs. Revolver fits exceptionally well. Case was made to accommodate barrels up to 5 1/2". An exceptionally fine example of this important revolver. (01-24212/MGM). ANTIQUE. $5,000-7,000.
