POCKET REVOLVER. Cal. 31 S# 114832. Standard configuration, 4" octagonal barrel engraved "Saml Colt" on top flat. Distinctive fine Gustave Young scroll engraving terminating in dog's heads on the left side a frame and barrel housing and flowers on right. Cylinder has rolled Stagecoach hold up scene. Revolver was manufactured in 1856. Pistol is housed in compartmented Colt green velvet lined walnut casing with two-sided eagle flask, COLT PATENT two-cavity brass mold, ELY cap tin, Pack of five combustible cartridges, and loose rounds. This is a very attractive uncleaned dark gun with well discerned crisp engraving and cylinder scene. CONDITION, very good to fine overall, all original and matching, no original finish but sharp edges and good markings, cylinder scene is all discerned, grip frame retains about 20% original silver plate. Mechanically fine with crisp rifled bore. Grips are refinished and revarnished. Casing and accessories are very good. PROVENANCE. Bill Sisney 1999, Collection of Horst Kreiner.
