REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 26966. Bbl. 8". Standard configuration, solid blued frame marked on either side: “STARR ARMS CO. NEW YORK” & “STARR’S PATENT JAN. 15, 1856”. Serial numbers start at 23000 continuing the numbers from earlier double action revolver. This revolver was made in 1863 among the first of 32000 made by 1865. CONDITION: very good to fine overall, strong original bright blue in protected areas, balance plum/gray recolored patina. Grips sound, moderate to heavy edge wear, denting on butt, no discernible cartouche but inspection initials on most metal parts. Mechanically fine, crisp rifled bore. PROVENANCE: Michael E.
