BY KONRAD SCHREIBER. Cal. 7X65R. S# 18295. The 25-1/2" half round half octagon ribbed barrel is engraved "Konrad Schreiber Werzburg" in milled out portion of matted top rib. Raised rear portion of rib holds one standing one folding leaf "U" notch sight. A silver bead is in raised ramp front portion. Bottom of barrel is stamped with September 1936 German nitro proofs for 7x65 cartridge. Case hardened boxlock double Kirsten scallop back action with dual under lugs features non-automatic safety, bushed striker, pin cocking indicator on left side, intercepting safety sear and double set triggers. Action is engraved with sprays of scroll. No maker's name is present. Top lever is blued as is trigger guard; both have some scroll engraving. Sunburst horn capped pistol grip buttstock made of lightly veined and figured European walnut measures 14-1/4" over ribbed horn buttplate. Stock features Tyrolean right hand cheekpiece and point pattern checkering. A sling loop that matches the one on barrel is on toeline. Matching splinter forend with schnabled tip has Deeley release. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Barrel with over 95% original blue shows a few marks and some high edge wear. Case hardening of action also shows a touch of edge wear and some lightening on fences and at rear of top tang. Trigger guard and top lever retain nearly all of their original blue. Stocks retain over 95% of their original finish with some knocks and scratches, one or two fairly deep. Buttplate shows some insect damage. Bore is very fine; sharp and shiny throughout.
