COLT MASTER ENGRAVER AND GUNSMITH ALVIN A. WHITE. Cal. 40. NSN. 58" overall, 41.75" octagonal barrel signed in script "AAW". This beautiful piece of firearms art is made in the style of 18th century Golden age rifles. A similar Kentucky was sold by Poulin's in 2020 pictured on pages 696-697 of Wilson's "The Colt Engraving Book, Vol. 2". Rifle exhibits relief & incised carving, elegant 7-piece pierced German silver & brass patch box, & engraved silver insets. CONDITION: fine to excellent overall, missing heart-shaped silver inset on bottom of stock. Lock is dark with some case color. Barrel retains most of its original thin brown finish. Striped maple stock retains virtually all its original varnish. Small area of rust on cock & frizzen. Mechanically fine w/ crisp rifled bore.
