RIFLE. Cal. 8x57 (8mm Mauser). S# 1351n. Bbl. 23 1/2". Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m Fine matching early war (1940) Mauser Oberndorf K98k retaining a high degree of original finish. Cleaning rod is numbered "59" & all other visible parts are matching. Takedown disc has earlier "63" Oberndorf Waffenamt & other visible parts have "655" Oberndorf Waffenamts. Reciever top has "42" Mauser Oberndorf code & 1940 date. Right side of receiver has three eagle "655" Waffenamts. Early war blued finish. Walnut stock set w/ crisp eagle "H" Heer (Army) marking on right side of butt & several strong eagle "655" markings. Left side sling provisions w/ original leather sling UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: WaA655 marked folding muzzle cover. CONDITION: stock shows the expected scattered dings, handling wear & scratches. Action functions properly. Metal retains 80% original blue w/ a couple light scratches on bottom metal, some edge wear, a few light specks of oxidation & scattered fading. Bright near excellent bore.
