Cal. 16 ga. NSN. Bbl. 29 3/4" round w/ smooth bore. Top of bbl. is marked "M. JAMES". Underhammer action w/ button style trigger & rosewood grip covers. Detachable straight grip walnut stock w/ steel buttplate. LOP: 14 1/4". WEIGHT: 4 lbs, 1 oz. Born in 1815, Morgan James began making firearms in 1830 at age 15. From 1851-1855, he partnered with George Ferriss of Utica, New York. He died in 1878. Both Morgan James & George Ferriss are considered among the best New York gunsmiths of that era. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rosewood muzzle cap w/ brass tip. Also included is a listing from the Database of USA Gunmakers along w/ several other pages of information printed off the internet. CONDITION: fine, bbl. retains 90% browned finish, showing some light pitting around the nipple. Action covers & stock have original finish showing scattered scratches, marks & small dents.
