PISTOL. Cal 31. S# 1082. Manufactured between 1857-1860 after the breakup of Volcanic Arms Company by newly formed New Haven Arms Company who would go on to make the iconic Henry lever action rifle developed after Volcanic design but with more reliable rimfire ammunition instead of the self-contained "rocket ball" cartridges used by this pistol. Standard configuration 3.5" octagonal barrel, integral 6-shot spring loaded magazine, "NEW HAVEN CONN" / "PATENT FEB 14 1854" stamped in two lines on top flat, fixed notch rear sight, pinched post front sight, silver plated brass frame, varnished walnut grips. CONDITION: fine overall, barrel and magazine retain much of their blue finish, frame retains most of its dull silver plate, well-fit grips retain most all varnished finish, mechanically functional, sharp rifled bore with pitting.
