PISTOL. Cal. 31. S# 479. Standard configuration with scarce longer blued 6" octagonal barrel, only 225 estimated production, integral 6-shot spring loaded magazine, fixed notch rear sight, pinched post front sight, brass frame, varnished walnut grips. Manufactured between 1857-1860 after reorganization of the Volcanic Arms Company by New Haven Arms. Configuration virtually identical with additional barrel markings: "THE VOLCANIC ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN CONN / PATENT FEB 14 1854" on top flat. CONDITION: fine overall, barrel and magazine retain about 80% of their bright blue finish, scattered pitted at muzzle, frame has smooth brass patina, well-fit grips retain most all varnished finish, mechanically fine, sharp rifled bore.
