OF ALLENTOWN, PA CONVERTED TO PERCUSSION. Cal. 47. NSN. Bbl. 45" oct. Fitted w/ U-notch rear & brass blade front sights, stamped "MOLL" on top flat (most probably John Moll II working in Allentown, PA 1810-1820). Bbl. converted to percussion w/ drum & nipple. Lock is fitted w/ flat faced chamfered hammer w/ stamped scroll engraving. Lockplate w/ light game scene engraving marked "R & W.C. Biddle & Co." "PHILADELPHIA". Double set triggers are fitted. Full length walnut stock attaches to bbl. w/ 3 bronze bolts & is brass mounted. Crescent buttplate w/ patchbox release at center has 4 1/2" return w/ floral engraving & fancy outline. Patchbox on right side of stock has crenelated border to side panels & finial pierced in keyhole form. Patchbox matches that known by J. Moll as listed in "Chandler Vol. 1". Trigger guard has spur at rear of grip. Sideplate is of bird wing style & hickory ramrod is held by 2 line engraved pipes & matching tail pipe. Left side of stock has very sm. fluted cheekpiece. CONDITION: good to fine. As converted. Bbl. w/ old cleaning is now silver to brown w/ some scattered marks & light rusting. Lock is basically the same. Stock retains most of an old oil refinish w/ some minor repairs along right bbl. channel & at center stock mounting bolt. Brass once cleaned is now dark gold. Fine bore, shiny w/ some light pitting toward muzzle. Lock will not hold at full cock. Triggers do set. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19027/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,200- 1,800.
