16" overall including drop, sheath 9.5" x 3", sinew sewn, full coverage with black, greasy yellow, & white-heart red beads on blue ground, row of red quilled tinkle cone embellishments and on drop at tip. "FALL RIVER WORKS / 1869" marked pewter bolster utility knife, 10" overall, 6" blade. This knife & sheath from the Floyd Ritter collection is pictured on page 3 of John Baldwin's 1997 text "EARLY KNIVES & BEADED SCABBARDS OF THE AMERICAN FRONTIER". CONDITION: good very good overall, small loss of beads near throat, one of four drops is broken, one cone is missing. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox.
