LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 2846f. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. clandestinely by Mauser in 1935. The top of the bbl. extension is marked with Mauser's "G" (1935) date code over the chamber, with Mauser Eagle/63 proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "S/42" mfg. code. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, safety lever, and ejector exhibiting a straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, with nitre blued grip screws. Dovetailed blade front sight, with fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, rear toggle pin, as well as the grips. MAGS: 1 non-matching (S# 1652d) blued 8-rd. with aluminum bottom, marked with a Mauser Eagle/63 proof. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear and thinning, some scattered spots of light surface oxidation, as well as scattered superficial marks from handling and storage. Bbl. exhibits light wear and thinning, with light surface level pitting present overall. Grip straps show scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Strawed parts show varying degrees of wear (most prevelent on the trigger), with worn areas showing through to gray patina and scattered spots of age related discoloration. Very bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show light smoothing, as well as a few scattered marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise very good overall. A fine example of a desirable Mauser "G" date P.08 Luger. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-374/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-2,500.
