F. DUPRE, MARION RIFLE ZOUAVES, LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. Quarter plate full-length portrait of Lt. Charles F. Dupree, of the Marion Rifles, wearing double breasted frock coat, 2-piece buckle on sword belt, tinted. Old ink label: "Charles F. Dupre / 1st Lieut. Marion / Rifle Zouaves. Louisville / Kentucky / 1861". Charles F. Dupre (1838-1922) was a respected Louisville physician born in Belgium and former member of French Zouave unit, later Dupre was appointed captain of Marion Rifle Zouaves, which was short lived Louisville unit in 1861. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: excerpts from Louisville newspapers concerning Dupre in Marion Zouaves. CONDITION: very good overall.
