PISTOL WITH MATCHING FACTORY BOX & PAPER TEST TARGET. Cal. 22 LR. S# 2404. Bbl. 5 1/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol chambered in .22 LR mfg. in West Germany by Walther in 1974. Left side of the slide is marked with the Walther banner logo above "Made in W. Germany", followed by markings stipulating Walther's mfg. information as well as the model and cal. designations. Right side of the slide is marked with an Eagle/N commercial nitro proof, the S#, as well as Interarms' importer information. Left side of the frame is stamped "74" followed by an Ulm Proof House antler stamp above an Eagle/N commercial nitro proof on the forward trigger guard web. Aluminum frame exhibits a black anodized finish, with the steel slide and bbl. exhibiting a matte gray finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. MAGS: 2 10-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching factory box containing a matching factory paper test target, original manual, a page from Guns & Ammo magazine's February 1976 article on the rimfire P.38, 1 spare mag., as well as a cleaning rod. CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory finishes overall. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Grips are excellent overall. Box shows some taped repairs at the corners, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable overall. PROVENANCE: the collection of Gun Sport Ltd., owned by Jon R. Thomas.
