ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 243 Win. S# 897351. Bbl. 18 3/4". 1 of approx. 2,000 Model 70 Mannlicher bolt action rifles mfg. by Winchester, circa. 1969-1971. This example, mfg. in 1968, is marked with the Winchester trademark logo, followed by the model and cal. designations on the left side of the bbl. Left side of the receiver is marked with the Winchester trademark logo, with the S# marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt, which is jeweled, as well as the aluminum trigger guard, which exhibits a black enamel type finish. Checkered wood Monte Carlo Mannlicher style full length stock, with pistol grip, cheek rest, and Winchester grooved black rubber recoil pad. Iron sights are absent, with screws being present. Receiver is mounted with a set of Weaver 1" scope rings, which are fitted with Weaver K4 C3 scope. Bolt matches the receiver via the full S#, which is electro-penciled on the underside of the bolt body. CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory blue finish overall, exhibiting a few scattered superficial handling marks overall. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Stock is excellent, showing few superficial marks from handling and storage overall. Scope retains a clear and sharp optic. An extremely fine example of a rare Winchester Model 70 Mannlicher bolt action rifle. PROVENANCE: Estate of Russell Dickerman. (25-1956/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
