LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 3408n. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1941 for the German military. This example is one of a only a few thousand that fall between the "n" and "r" blocks of Mauser 1941 production that bears the "41" date and Mauser's "42" mfg. code. The bbl. extension is marked with the 2-digit date code "41" over the chamber, with Mauser Eagle/655 arsenal proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's clandestine "42" mfg. code. Metal components exhibit what appears to be an arsenal reapplied salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the rear toggle pin. Grips are unnumbered, but are stamped with Mauser Eagle/655 proofs on the interior of the panels. MAGS: 2 aluminum bottom 8-rd. 1 mag. has been renumbered to match, with the other's S# having been polished off. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster marked "dta/ 41", (A. Walhausen, Inh. M. Burchmann, Sattler u. Kofferfabrik, Koln) followed by an Eagle/WaA195" and "P.08" on the rear. Rear is also lightly inscribed "41/ ROSE", with the remainder of the inscription no longer being legible. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their arsenal reapplied salt blue finish, exhibiting a few areas of light wear and thinning, as well as a few scattered spots of light surface oxidation and pitting overall. Front grip strap exhibits 2 small dings that show through to silvering. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting some scattered patches of mild pitting towards the muzzle, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips are good, showing some smoothing, as well as some scattered nicks and marks to the diamonds. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting wear, scattered handling marks, as well as light to mild age related cracking and crazing overall. A very nice example of a Mauser "41" date "42" code P.08 Luger. (24-6906/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
