ACTION RIFLE WITH CODY FIREARMS MUSEUM LETTER. Cal. 38-56. S# 84266. Bbl. 26 inch octagon to round. Bead front sight with factory express rear sight. Button mag. Case colored action, forearm cap & crescent steel buttplate. Forearm & pistol grip stock with ebony insert of XX fancy walnut with style H factory checkering. Left inside of lower tang is marked with the S# "196" followed by XX wood grade. Top tang channel of stock has matching "196" assembly number. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from the Cody Firearms Museum detailing the following information, "Type: Rifle / Caliber: 38/56 / Barrel Type: 1/2 Octagon / Trigger: Plain / Checkered stock, Pistol grip / Sights: Winchester Express / 1/2 Magazine / Received in warehouse on December 09, 1893 / Shipped from warehouse on December 09, 1893, Order number 5378". CONDITION: bbl. retains 80% dull lightly faded blue showing carry & edge wear with small spots of corrosion. Right side of action retains 50% light case colors with balance fading to a silvery gray showing spots of pitting on the left side. Buttplate has faded to silvery gray showing spots of corrosion. Original wood finish shows wear with scratches & marks. Bore displays moderate wear & frosting with strong rifling. (01-26203/DS). ANTIQUE. $8,000-12,000.
