SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 359281k. Bbl. 3 1/4". Model PPK semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther in 1942. While not listed by S# in the book, page82 of "SS Contract Walther PP/PPK Contract Variations & Serial Numbers" by Thomas Whiteman, indicates that this example falls within the appropriate S# range for an SS contract PPK. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther banner logo, followed by markings stipulating Walther's mfg. information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Right side of the frame (on chamber), slide, and bbl. exhibit a German Eagle/N commercial nitro proof. Metal components exhibit a dull blue military finish overall. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece Walther banner checkered mottled brown plastic wrap around grip. Slide features a matte grooved rib, with a fixed blade front sight and fixed U-notch rear sight. Frame features a lanyard loop on the butt that is fitted with a period leather tab. All serialized parts are numbered, with the full S# appearing on the right side of the frame and slide. MAGS: 1 7-rd. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting a few spots of light to mild wear and thinning and some edge wear overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting some light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some very minor warping, some light to mild smoothing, as well as some scattered superficial handling marks overall. Rear of grip exhibits a small crack that stems from the frame spur area. A fine example of an SS contract range Walther Model PPK pistol. PROVENANCE: the Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-329/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
