CIRCA 1965. Ted Flowers (1914-1976) made saddles for Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and others from his Alexandria, Indiana shop. This saddle was top of the line & among the flashiest parade saddles you will find, geometric square embossed & engraved German silver panels cover almost all surfaces of saddle other than the 13" tooled tan leather seat. Eighteen 4" "chief heads with headdresses" adorn the saddle with matching 13" wide serape & breast collar. Stirrups straps have "Blevins Patent Pending" adjustment buckles, so we can date this saddle to 1964-1967 for 3 year period from application to patent granted. You won't find a flashier parade saddle by this American master at the height of his career. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: custom varnished saddle display stand. CONDITION: very good overall, leather appears sound & solid throughout, German silver decoration appears complete. Serape & breast collar straps need restoration, one broken on breast collar, and one attachment strap missing from serape. Small straps on saddle all sound. PROVENANCE: Martin Lane Historic & Western Americana Lifetime Collection. (02-21386/JS). $6,000-8,000.
