Cal.50. NSN. 9” Overall. 4” Oct. bbl. engraved “New Orleans” in script, “V LIBEAU” engraved on lock. Breech has two platinum bands. Lock, breech, tang & triggerguard are delicately scroll engraved. German silver buttcap has hinged compartment for caps. This is among the best survivors by this New Orleans maker who worked 1829-1848. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Limited edition #119/200 NEW ORLEAN GUNSMITHS by Kit Gorman 2005. CONDITION: very good overall. Smooth sharp metal, traces of case colors. Stock retains much of its original varnish. Ramrod pipe is detached but present. Mechanically fine. Good rifled bore. PROVENANCE: Collection of John Montague. (01-20730/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
