WILKES BOXLOCK EJECTOR SHOTGUN WITH EXTRA BARRELS AND CASE. Cal. 20 Ga., 3" chambers. S# 141835. Two sets of 26" Dovetailed barrels are gold inlaid "John Wilkes" and engraved "79. Beak Street. London. W.1." on slightly swamped game ribs. Barrel flats are stamped with 1971 Birmingham nitro proofs for 3" chambers. One barrel set is choked mod and full and the other IC and Mod, but there are no marks distinguishing one set from the other. Case hardened ogee backed boxlock action with automatic safety and gold plated double triggers, is engraved with 60% coverage well cut shaded scroll within gold line borders. This fine scroll surrounds raised two color gold inlaid trailing sprigs with buds and blossoms on sides. "John Wilkes" is in gold on floorplate. This unusual attractive treatment extends to trigger guard bow. S# is in gold on tang. No engraver's signature found. Well marbled European walnut straight grip buttstock with nicely shaped drop points and flat top point pattern checkering measures 15 1/8" over checkered wood butt. Side panels are decorated with steel plates engraved to match action with central motif a bouquet of flowers and thistles, within gold wire inlaid belt device. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Heavy choked barrels: Bore diameter: L .610". R .610". Bore restrictions: L .027" (full). R .016" (mod). Open choked set of barrels: Bore diameter: L .611". R .611". Bore restrictions: L .014" (mod). R .005" (IC). STOCK: DAH: 1 3/4". DAC: 1 3/16". CAST: approx 5/8 off. WEIGHT: 5 lbs. 14 oz. LOP: 15 1/8". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: high quality dark brown leather case with stitched leather corners, has brown canvas outer cover and is lined in burgundy cloth. Interior has space for action and both barrel sets. CONDITION: very fine, appears to have been shot very little since proof. There are only a few very minor nicks, handling and assembly marks in all factory finishes. Bores are very fine without noted problems. Mechanically very fine. Case is very fine.
