SKEET GRADE SKEET GUN. Cal. 16 Ga. 2-3/4". S# 6981. This gun was made around 1932 the time when skeet had recently been invented. The 16 Ga. was part of the game at this time, later to be dropped as it was too close in performance to both the 12 Ga. and 20 Ga. This attractive example of a scarce 16 Ga. model 21 skeet gun has 26" barrels with matted rib marked "WS-1" and "WS-2" on bottoms. Blued action with non-automatic safety and blued selective single trigger is stamped "SKEET" on trigger plate. Pistol grip stock of nicely crotch figured American walnut measures 14-1/4" over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching unbraced beavertail ejector forend has usual "J" spring primary and knurled button secondary release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .668. R .670. Restriction: L .010 (IC). R .010 flare (skeet). Wall thickness: L .028. R .024. STOCK: DAH: 2-5/8". DAC: 1-5/8". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14-1/4". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 11 oz. CONDITION: very fine as completely and competently refinished. Metal parts retain about 90% factory quality finishes with subsequent wear; showing silvering on fences and beads. Trigger guard tang is mostly gray. Stocks retain nearly all of oil refinish. Checkering re-cut and is a bit haphazard as evidence of refinishing. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanically good. (24-3771/MGM). CURIO. $5,000-7,000.
