PISTOL. Cal. 7.62x25. S# AB647. Bbl. 4 1/2". Blade front sight. U-notch rear sight. Matching numbers on slide, hammer housing, frame, and bbl. Right side of the frame has a 1940 date, a Tula star, and a boxed Finnish "SA" Army property marking. Slide top has the Tula star and a 1940 date. No importer safety or import markings are present. Blued finish. Grooved grips with the CCCP star logo. Lanyard ring is present on the bottom left of the grip frame. MAGS: 1–8 rd., numbered to a different gun. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: leather holster that is marked on the inside flap "NOV 15, 1970, Luger P-08, Walther P38, Beretta", all in dark ink. A US Customs tag is attached to the holster that states this gun was purchased from USAF Lt. Col. James Cowan. Further, the tag states that this pistol was taken from dead Russian military technicians in Laos in 1973. The Russians were purportedly dressed in Laotian uniforms and killed by a US-supported rocket attack at the Plains of Jars. CONDITION: grips show some light chipping, dings, and handling marks. Metal retains 93% original blue with some edge wear and some scattered light scratches. The bore shows scattered oxidation but evident rifling. PROVENANCE: the collection of Curtis H. Halvorson.
