MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 7.62X54R. S# 503584 Numbers match on barrel and bolt knob. Bbl. 27". Import marked on bottom of barrel. SAKO produced somewhat over 10,700 of these rifles for the Civil Guard from 1942 to 1944. Barrel is marked on top over chamber with the Sako "gearwheel". "SK.Y" which is the Civil Guards designation. "1942" date. The left side has the boxed "SA" property mark. The right side has an "S" with two flanking marks resembling arrows. Markings are enhanced in white. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1000 meters. Adjustable blade front sight with protective ears. Hex receiver has importer added matching serial number. Straight bolt handle. Cleaning rod is present. Replacement stock set. Buttstock made with the early rounded stock splices and has a two piece construction in the toe area. Marked on the right side of the butt with the "L" inside "crossed cannons". this mark is that of V. Lindholm Carpenter Factory whose stocks were primarily used on VKT produced rifles. Green colored leather sling. CONDITION: the stock set has the wear, staining and handling marks from a good amount of careful use. Metal has wear and is turning overall grey with some areas of the original blue. Trigger guard has a notable amount of pitting. Bright shiny bore with lightly worn lands.
