Cal. 32 WCF. S# 178586. Bbl. 4 3/4". Mfg. in 1898. Left side of the bbl. is marked "32 W.C.F.", with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with Colt's 2-line patent information, followed by the encircled Rampant Colt logo. Case colored frame, loading gate, and hammer, with blued bbl., ejector rod housing, cyl., cyl. base pin, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth ivory grips, which are slightly shy to frame. Standard SAA pattern blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Grips match via the full S#, which is written in pencil on the interior of the panels. Cyl. is mismatched (S# "757"). CONDITION: frame, loading gate, and hammer retain traces of their original case colored finish, with the balance fading to a gray patina and showing light pitting, surface oxidation, and age relate discoloration overall. Blued parts retain fair amounts of their original finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina. Grip straps have been cleaned, exhibiting a light gray patina. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action shows wear, but otherwise locks up tightly. Grips exhibit a pleasing yellow patina and some superficial handling marks, with 2 small chips present on the bottom of the right panel along the butt.
