Cal. 45 Colt. S# 129880. Bbl. 4 3/4". Single Action Army revolver mfg. by Colt in 1889. Left side of the bbl. is marked "45 COLT." with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Bbl. appears to have been rechambered, with "41" marked on the underside at the breech. Left side of the black powder frame is marked with Colt's 2-line patent information, followed by the encircled Rampant Colt logo. Metal finish was nickel plated. Frame is mounted with 2-piece proper period replacement Colt checkered brown hard rubber grips. Blade front sight has been recontoured seemingly during the period. Matching numbers are present on the frame, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. CONDITION: metal components retain traces of their original factory nickel plated finish, with the balance exhibiting wear and thinning that shows through to mottled gray patina, with scattered handling marks and spots of light pitting. Cyl. base pin is polished in-the-white. Bore is fairly bright, exhibiting consistent light surface level pitting, while retaining good to strong rifling throughout. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Grips show moderate to heavy smoothing and scattered superficial handling marks. Left grip shows a repair on the interior of the panel around the screw slot. (01-27270/MLW). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
