POSITIVE TARGET "MODEL G" .22 W.R.F. DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER WITH A FACTORY BOX. Cal. 22 WRF. S# 164. Bbl. 6". Police Positive Target .22 W.R.F. double action revolver mfg. by Colt during the first year of the Police Positive Target .22 caliber production (1910). The Police Positive Target models were serialized in 4 separate groups, often in sequence with Colt's other lines of revolvers, with only the 22 caliber line of Police Positive Targets being serialized in their own range of 1-24192 from 1910-1925. Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model and cal. designations, with Colt's mfg. and patent information marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with the intertwined "C" Rampant Colt logo, as well as Colt's "VP" proof. Frame is marked with the 3-digit S# "164" beneath the cyl. crane. Frame, cyl., and bbl. exhibit a high polish blue finish, with the trigger, frame screws, rear sight, and rear strap of the hammer exhibiting a nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece "COLT" checkered brown hard rubber grips. Patridge front sight, with dovetailed adj. square notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame and cyl. crane. Grips are matching via "164", which is lightly inscribed on the interior of the panels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: non-matching factory box containing a Shooting Suggestions pamphlet, Handling the Handgun pamphlet, as well as an unused warranty card. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory high polish blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light to mild wear and thinning (primarily on edges), scattered superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation overall. Left side of the frame exhibits some silvering around the screw slots. Very bright bore, exhibiting what appears to be some light surface level oxidation and pitting, as well as a small bulge towards the muzzle, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show light to mild smoothing, some light superficial handling marks, as well as a couple of small and minor chips. Box exhibits mild exterior wear and a tear on one corner of the lid, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Box retains a small portion of its original end label. A nice example of a 3-digit S# Colt Police Positive Target revolver. (25-1622/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
