LEVER ACTION SHOTGUN. Cal. 10 GA. S# 5620. Bbl. 20 3/4". Model 1887 lever action shotgun mfg. during the first year of production (1887). Left side of the receiver is marked with Winchester's "WRA" Co. monogram, with Winchester's mfg. and patent information marked on the lower tang. 2-panel plain wood forearm and rnd. knob buttstock have been sanded and refinished. Buttplate is absent. Bbl. has been shortened, with the bead being absent. Hammer assembly and various other internals are absent, including the lower lever screw. CONDITION: metal components exhibit a mottled gray patina, with scattered spots of light to mild pitting present overall. Receiver is cracked at the rear of left edge of the hammer slot, and exhibits an additional crack that stems from the right rear edge of the hammer slot that runs down the right side of the receiver. Bore exhibits a consistent scattering of moderate pitting. Forearm panels show scattered marks and impressions, with numerous chips present along the edges. Buttstock exhibits numerous cracks with notable chipping present on and around the toe area. (01-28205/MLW). ANTIQUE. $100-300.
