ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 22 S, L, LR. S# 7571. Bbl. 23". Model 62 slide action rifle mfg. by Winchester during the first year of Model 62 production (1932). Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model designation, followed by the Winchester trademark logo and cal. designation, with Winchester's mfg. information marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Plain wood straight grip buttstock, with flat checkered steel buttplate and grooved wood pump. Marbles No. 6 blade front sight (bead is absent), with U-notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the upper and lower assemblies. CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their original factory blue finish, with the balance exhibiting wear and thinning through to gray and brown patinas, as well as areas of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting overall. Mirror bore, retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Right side of the pump exhibits 2 chips along the upper edge. Buttstock exhibits a few small cracks that stem from the top and bottom receiver tangs. A nice example of a first-year production Winchester Model 62 rifle, that would be a great candidate for restoration. (24-6598/MLW). CURIO. $700-900.
