Cal. approx. 45. NSN. Bbl. 39 1/4" octagon measuring 15/16" across flats at muzzle. German silver blade front sight with fixed V-notch rear sight. Top flat of bbl. has 8-point stars before an initial that appears to be the letter "J", with additional 8-point stars on either side of the name "Fisher". Bbl. has French lug style percussion conversion. "I&W ASTON" engraved percussion conversion trade lock. Double set triggers. Pin fastened full length curly maple stock. Brass fittings include the forearm tip, sideplate, crescent buttplate, and toe plate. Left side has a brass rectangular lid faceted and pierced patchbox with 3-point finial. German silver ornamentation includes old man in the moon on cheek piece, with multi-point plate under the cheek piece. Also both sides of the stock wrist have tear drop inlays on either side of a curved wing inlay, with an oval escutcheon at top. German silver half-moon inlays are found at front and rear edges of sideplate and lock areas. Additionally each side of the bbl. has 4 pointed oval German silver pin escutcheons. Ramrod channel and toe line of stock have single line incise carving. Hardwood ramrod held on octagon thimble and octagon rear pipe. Forward pipe is a rnd. iron replacement. CONDITION: bbl. exterior has brown patina appearance with surface corrosion and pitting that becomes very heavy in the breech area. Lock and hammer have brown appearance with corrosion and light pitting. Lock will not hold in cocked position. Triggers are not functioning. Stock has extensive wood loss forward and above the hammer with cracks extending from the front and the rear of the lock. An additional small crack is found above the sideplate screw. Left side of stock shows a large area of chipping by rear pipe with cracks and chips on forward and tip sections. Balance of stock has worn finish with numerous scratches, dents, and marks. Rectangular patchbox lid will not hold in closed position. Lower pierced patchbox plate is partially detached. Dark pitted bore with largely intact rifling. (01-26262/DS). ANTIQUE. $600-1,000.
