"W & C CHANCE". Cal. 65. NSN. The 9 1/4" tapered round bbl. is marked "LONDON" on filed in top flat at breech end which is also stamped w/ Birmingham proofs. Lock w/ flat plate has serpentine cock, inset rounded pan, unbridled frizzen, & feather spring w/ spear finial. Bbl. tang, lockplate & cock have stamped foliate "engraving" & line borders. "W & G" "CHANCE" is under pan. Walnut stock w/ bag grip extends to muzzle & is brass mounted w/ simple trigger guard, beaded pipes & thimble, shield on top of grip & serpentine sideplate. Trigger guard & sideplate have some engraving. CONDITION: very good. Metal parts mostly gray to brown patina w/ scattered pitting. Stock has old oil finish w/ many marks, brass w/ old toning. Stock is broken through grip from trigger to top of brass shield & is quite loose. Bore is fair, lightly pitted. Lock is operable but weak. (01-20385/MGM). ANTIQUE. $600-800.
