CHAMBERSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA. Cal. 52 rifled. NSN. Bbl. 38" full oct. signed "A. SCHWEITZER" at the breech. Has a 4 piece engraved patchbox w/ 1 piercing & an unmarked flintlock & sideplate. The curly maple stock is profusely incise carved. Abraham Schweitzer worked in Chambersburg, PA ca. 1795-1831. CONDITION: bbl. has been cut at least 3" from the rear. The brass sideplate appears to have been replaced. A considerable portion of the forend wood appears to have been replaced. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19608/RG).
