Cal. 40 smooth bore. NSN. Bbl. 37" full oct. marked "C.B." Bbl. is pinned to the stock. The flint lock is unmarked. Rifle has a curly maple stock w/ a 4 piece brass patchbox w/ 9 piercings & the rifle has 10 silver inlays. Charles Baum worked in New Berlin from 1832-1846 & was one of the Baum family of gunsmiths. He produced flint & percussion rifles & was still assessed as a gunsmith after the mid 1830's. CONDITION: appears clean & solid throughout. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19672/RG).
