Cal. 9mmP (9mm Luger). S# 292. This early postwar fixed sight FN High Power, rust blued with thumbprint slide, internal extractor, and ring hammer, has the Syrian Coat of Arms marked on the right side of the slide that features an eagle whose head is turned to the right, a chest shield with three stars, and an underlying banner with Arabic script. The pistol is otherwise indistinguishable from the other commercial High Powers of this era, having a 3-line address on the left side of the slide and a scattering of Belgian proofs on the left side of the slide, left side of the frame, and over the barrel hood that is additionally marked with "CAL. 9mmP". This all-matching pistol has its serial number on the left side of the barrel hood (hidden), the right side of the slide and right side of the frame. Fitted with checkered/bordered walnut grips and a postwar magazine with aluminum follower, bright salt blued body, and a button-retention floorplate. CONDITION: very good to excellent original rust blued finish with sharp edge wear, handling marks, and thinning at base of backstrap/heel of pistol. Comparable condition grips and magazine. Mirror bright bore. Perfect manual mechanics. A very attractive and early postwar High Power, rarely seen in such high condition, that should appeal to the most advanced HP collector! PROVENANCE: the Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-1631/LA). CURIO. $3,500-5,500.
