Cal. 45 ACP. S# F24360. Bbl. 5" blued Colt Series 70. Mfg. by Caspian Arms which was founded by Calvin Foster in 1983, The Recon Model was introduced after 9-11 to answer the need for strong frames to build competition pistols; 70 series design. Seven years prior to founding Caspian, Foster made frames for custom builds. This Foster frame is listed on Caspian's website and it has the same Walcott, VT address as Caspian frames. This stainless frame has a matte grey tone appearing almost "as cast" with 1911-A1 profile plus added integral accessory rail; unpolished feed ramp. Frame fitted with stainless, extended magazine release; blued latch. Blued parts on frame are: checkered slide stop, grooved thumb safety, 1911-A1 profiled grip safety, checkered flat mainspring housing, mainspring housing retaining pin, narrowed skeletonized hammer with polished sides, short serrated faced steel trigger and Allen head grip screws on Army marked simulated ivory grips. Matte blued slide marked "MFR 2US94" on right side just forward of cocking grooves and "7790314" on left at midpoint. Stainless barrel bushing and spring plug. Fitted with 2 color working fixed night sights. MAGS: 1 blued Shooting Star 7 rd. with black bumper pad. Thumb safety is resistant to full on position, but provides safe function and normal release. Very slight misalignment of slide and disconnector. Near excellent bore and grips. Very good basis needing only slight gunsmith tweaking. (23-6881/NW). MODERN. $450-600.
