Cal. 8mm CF (Likely 8.15x46R). NSN. Bbl. 29 3/4" fluted oct. configuration w/ wide quarter rib. Rib has gold inlaid markings "FR. SCHILLING in COBURG". Martini style action w/ finger curl lever. Double set triggers. Action has exquisite full coverage leaf style engraving. Circular vignette on right side features a rifleman in traditional garb. Left side shows a well dressed maiden . Gold highlights are found at both front & rear of scenes. Top tang has gold markings that maybe initials "CW". Tang mounted aperture rear sight w/ large disc & base only of front sight remains. Wedge fastened forearm & Schutzen style cheekpiece stock of fancy walnut having burl figure w/ dark streaking. Bottom of forearm & wrist of stock have hand checkering which is bordered by foliate relief carving that extends to toeline area of stock & edge of cheekpiece. Schuetzen style iron buttplate w/ hooked toe that has engraving to match the action. Toeline of stock & rear wiping rod pipe have sling swivels. Wiping rod not present. CONDITION: metal finish has largely faded to brown showing some very light corrosion. Wood shows areas of finish wear & darkening w/ numerous dents, scratches & marks. Wrist of stock has small crack extending from right side of tang. Action & trigger are functioning. Tang screw is not indexed properly. Bore retains strong rifling. (24-1145/DS). CURIO. $5000-8000.
