Cal. 11mm Gras. S# FG70547. Bbl. 32 1/3". Standard Gras sights. Clearing rod is mismatched but all other visible parts are matching to receiver. 1866 Chassepot later updated to Gras specs. Left side of receiver has MLE 1866-74 & St. Etienne markings. Right side of bbl. has "S.80" marking likely for further 1880 update & 1874 mfr. date. Blued finish. Walnut stock set with faint roundel on right side of butt & bottom mounted sling swivels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 1883 dated M1874 Gras bayonet that appears unnumbered with mismatch numbered but correct scabbard. CONDITION: sanded stock set shows a few chips, some dings, scattered handling marks & scratches. Metal retains 70% arsenal rework blue with scattered oxidation, fading to gray & handling marks. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bore is mostly bright with strong rifling but some scattered frosting & light pitting. (01-27842/MJC). ANTIQUE. $700-1000.
