Cal. 17mm. NSN. Bbl. 38". Franco-German war era French breechloading rifle converted from an earlier musket. Similar to a Snider action. Lockplate has Tulle arsenal markings. Flip up rear sight graduated to 600m. Blade front sight. Walnut stock w/ three bands. Stock has French acceptance cartouche on right side of butt & several smaller French stamps. Bottom mounted sling swivels w/ leather sling. No ramrod present. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal finish w/ a couple armorer style patch repairs, an added black circled number on left side of butt, scattered scratches, dings & handling marks. Metal is an overall silvery-gray patina that appears lightly cleaned w/ some scratches on breechblock, overall oxidation & light pitting. Worn bore w/ scattered pitting & oxidation. (01-22250/MJC).
