Cal. 8x50R Lebel. S# 40129. All matching numbers, including buttstock. Bbl. 17 3/4". Ladder rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. Blade front sight. Receiver is marked on the left rail, in script, "ST. ETIENNE MLE 1892". Bbl. is marked on the left side over the chamber "JH" and two encircled "mm". Marked on the right side with "MA" and "S1894". Marked on top of receiver and bbl. with "N". Turndown bolt handle. Walnut stock with two recoil bolts. Cleaning rod channel has been filled. Bayonet lug is present. Stacking rod on the upper band. Sling ring has been removed from the lower band. A sport-type swivel has been installed under the forend. Rear swivel is correct and original. CONDITION: stock has a heavily worn original finish with staining and numerous handling marks. Roundel on the right side of the buttstock is visible but not legible. Metal retains 70% of its original blue finish, with handling marks and spots of light oxidation. Buttplate screws are notably burred. Bore is frosted in grooves with strong lands. (01-25258/RW).
