BY CHARLEVILLE. Cal. 875. NSN. 48" Tapered rnd. bbl. has tilting loading breech block which slides into recess in rear of bbl. It is locked into position by pivoting bolt, which engages into left side of action & is operated by folding, spring retained, handle. Bottom of heavy breech section has hinged spike for mounting on rail or wall. Back spring percussion lock w/ large rnd. body hammer marked w/ what appears to be "Charleville". Walnut butt stock has steel buttplate. CONDITION: fair to good. Heavily pitted overall. All metal parts clean to silver w/ deep black pitting. Handle for breech block missing, as is rear sight. Stock refinished, shows water damage. These guns were issued to French cities & towns & often stayed unattended in place on exterior walls for long periods of time.
