Cal. 8 MM Lebel. S# L 90074. All visible numbers match. Bolt has additional "R 132" underneath handle. Bbl. 17 3/4". These handy rifles were made after 1935 by shortening existing Lebel rifles and fitting new barrels in most cases. They were then used to arm artillery and machine gun crews who did not need the longer rifles. This rifle has the correct features such as the stepped barrel with a post 1935 date, new rear sights, barrel band with ring, Black painted finish and matching numbers. The rear sight is a tangent graduated to 1,000 meters. Notched blade front sight. Receiver is marked on the left side "MANUFACTURE DE ARMES ST. Etienne." "MLE 1886 M 93." "R 35". Barrel markings include "MA C 1938 N MF". Straight bolt handle. Two piece hardwood stock set marked only with serial #. CONDITION: Stock set has a well worn arsenal rework finish over numerous handling marks. Metal retains 50% of its worn flaking black painted finish. Worn, dark bore. (25-2175/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
