Cal. 54. NSN. Bbl. 7 3/8" brass part oct. part rnd. Brass lock is marked "CASSAIGNARD A NANTES". Bbl. top also marked "CASSAIGNARD". Cassaignard was active from 1708 to 1786 and made pistols for the French Navy. Iron hammer & frizzen. Silver-plated sideplate, trigger guard, wrist decoration, & grip cap. Lock is functional when hand-cycled. Hardwood stock w/ hardwood ramrod secured by a silver thimble and a pipe. Stock has decorative floral carving, and the bottom of the grip cap has decoration. CONDITION: stock has an older added finish with a crack at the front right edge, scattered chips, dings, & handling wear. Brass parts appear cleaned with scattered scratches, dings, & oxidation. Iron parts have a dull gray patina w/ scattered oxidation. Silver-plated parts appear cleaned w/ dings, scratches, some oxidation, & some pitting. Smoothbore shows scattered oxidation and some pitting. PROVENANCE: from the Lifelong Collection of Robert "Mike" Bricker. (01-24989/MJC). ANTIQUE. $700-900.
