SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 5693g. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser while under French occupation. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Mauser's late war mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "svw/ 45", and the S#, with a 5-pointed star stamped on the right, denoting French occupation mfg. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved stamped sheet metal grips. Dovetailed blade front sight with U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 2 blued 8-rd. 1 marked with a Mauser Eagle/135 proof on the spine. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, showing areas of light to mild edge wear, as well as light pitting beneath the finish on the left side of the slide. Bore is generally bright, exhibiting consistent light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Grips show some areas of wear fading to gray patina, but otherwise remain sound. (25-5188/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
