RIFLE. CAL. 8mm Lebel. NSN. Bolt is numbered "81696"; S#s on the trigger guard bow and the buttstock do not match. Bbl. 31 1/2". Ladder rear sight graduated to 2400 meters. Rectangular front sight with groove. Rifle is marked on the left side of the receiver with "Chatellerault MLE 1907-15" in script. Straight bolt handle. Extended 5-rd. mag. Rifle has provision for the Lebel Bayonet. Stacking rod is present. Walnut stock set. Buttstock has faint, partly legible S#s near the buttplate. Lower band has a sling ring on the left side. Rear swivel is located at the bottom of the buttstock. CONDITION: stock set has moderate staining, handling marks, and an arsenal rework finish. Rifle retains 60% of its original blue, turning patina with light oxidation and fine pitting. Bright bolt, turning gray with patina. Fair, worn, dark bore. (24-1426/RW). CURIO. $300-400.
