Cal. 71. NSN. 45 1/4" octagon to rnd. bbl. is fitted w/ U-notch rear & iron front sights. No markings or proofs are discernible. Trade flintlock marked "SAMUEL MOORE" "WARRANTED" has some engraving on lockplate w/ rebated tail & on high breasted serpentine cock. Bridled frizzen has roller on feather spring w/ bulbous finial. Full stock appears to be of cherry wood & is brass mounted. Chamfered trigger guard has finger spur forming grip. Crescent buttplate has 2 1/2" return & there are 2 elliptical sideplates. An old hickory ramrod is held by 2 beaded pipes & matching thimble. CONDITION: very good. Iron parts w/ considerable cleaning w/ silver highlights showing through gray/brown patina. Stock w/ most of its old, most likely original finish is very attractive. Brass is nicely toned. Stock is relatively sound w/ only 1 noted crack on left sidelock area above rear sideplate & a 1 1/2" X 1/4" piece missing left side of bbl. tang. Bridle area of lock w/ welded repair & new screw, old replaced frizzen does not fit well. Otherwise, bbl. & lock are in original flint. Dark pitted bore. Lock does cock.
