Cal. 50. NSN. Bbl. 40 1/8" octagon bbl. w/ rifled bore. Brass blade front sight w/ fixed V notch rear sight. French style side lug conversion. Engraved conversion trade lock has partially legible "Warranted" marking. Plain trigger. Wedge fastened full length Roman nose stock of curly maple. Rectangular lid segmented brass patchbox w/ floral finial. Other brass fittings include, buttplate, toe plate, finger curled trigger guard, sideplate & faceted thimble. Cheek piece is adorned w/ an 8 point German silver star & engraved oval German silver nameplate is found at the wrist. Hardwood ramrod is held by 2 faceted brass pipes. WEIGHT: 8 lbs, 3 ozs. CONDITION: metal has dark patina appearance showing dents & handling marks w/ pitting at breech end of bbl. & on lock plate. Stock has dark worn appearance w/ numerous dents & handling marks. Lock & top tang area show numerous chips. Area above lock plate shows substantial wood erosion. Lock has weak spring tension & will not hold in cocked position. Rusty pitted bore shows some remaining rifling. (01-22780/DS). ANTIQUE. $600-800.
