Cal. 9mm. S# 71695. Bbl. 8". The STEN was the standard SMG of the British armed forces during WWII & remained in service until the late 1950s. A simple select-fire, open bolt, blowback operated design with a very slow cyclic rate, & few moving parts. It has unique silhouette and is easily recognizable due to its left side magazine placement, directly across from the ejection port. Selector is located in front of trigger, marked w/ "A" for full auto and an "R" for semiautomatic fire. This particular example is a desirable, original MK5, which differs from the more common MKII by utilizing a wooden shoulder stock & pistol grip. Barrel terminates w/ a 2-lug muzzle. Front sight consists of a drift adjustable protected blade. Rear sight is a traditional fixed peep. Uniform black painted finish. Magazine well retains stamping "STEN MKV" on bottom, w/ "M76 / RL" & serial number on top. Shoulder stock stamped "177744" on left side. Brass butt plate on stock w/ trap door. Paperwork states "WW2 ENGLAND" as manufacturer / importer on Form 4. MAGS: (5 total) 4 steel 20 rd. & 1 steel 30 rd. CONDITION: uniform painted finish w/ some normal signs of use. Some thinning, primarily on barrel & a few scattered drag lines & scratches. Wood furniture in very nice condition, w/ a dark, uniform staining, demonstrating a few period typical impressions. Bright bore w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT SMG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-1755/JZ). CURIO CLASS III. $7,000-11,000.
