INDUSTRIES, (S-701-SMG) WITH SUPPRESSOR. Cal. 45. S# 820101464 (SMG) / D491 (Suppressor). Bbl. 6". There are very few firearms that conjure up the imagination of the general public more than the mere mention of the MAC 10. The Ingram Model 10 was originally designed in 1964. It would become the first of many small, simplistic SMGs to contrast with the expensive & labor-intensive earlier variants, such as the Thompson & Reising M50. Ingram’s two basic guidelines while designing the Model 10 were “simple and cheap” while remaining effective and reliable. Made famous mostly by Hollywood, the M10 made appearances on the silver screen & on television, eventually earning the infamous title of “The Gun That Made the 80’s Roar”, starting w/ John Wayne utilizing a suppressed 9mm M10 in the 1974 movie “McQ”. A favorite example used by the organized anti-gun movement, the Mac 10 was eventually, incorrectly, & inaccurately synonymous w/ every crime committed for a long period of time. Here we have an Ingram variant known to collectors as the "New Jersey MAC". It was originally manufactured by Jersey Arms Works as a copy of the Ingram Model 10, starting in 1982. It was called the "Avenger Commando" and was built during the time they were concentrating on making pistols, as opposed to SMGs, because it was a much larger market. They used unaltered M3 "Grease Gun" magazines, which were an attractive feeding device both in price & availability. Originally making only 143 full automatic SMGs, the remaining 377 units were sold to Wayne Daniel of SWD Inc., where the Cobray logo was added to the right side of the frame. Chambered in 45 ACP. Protected post fixed front sight & rear peep sight that is integral w/ the receiver. Select fire, open bolt, and blowback action. Selector on the left side of the receiver. Safety inside the trigger guard. MAGS: 1 steel 30 rd. grease gun mag. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original SWD sound suppressor. CONDITION: exposed metal surfaces enjoy a parkerized finish w/ complete coverage throughout. Typical handling marks consist of scratches & thinning in areas of mechanical intervention. The collapsible wire stock locks tightly in the open position. Bore is clean w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT SMG & SUPPRESSSOR, EACH REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-1679 & 03-1680/JZ). MODERN. CLASS III. $8,000-12,000.
